Create another Cloud

How to create an extra Cloud when your account already has one — what you need, who can do it, and what to do at your plan's Cloud limit.

What you'll do

Your account starts with a Cloud, so nobody has to create their first one. This page is for when one Cloud is not enough and you want to keep clients, teams or lines of work apart.

You will name a new Cloud, invite its first members if you want to, and confirm. Two things decide whether you can: the account needs an active subscription, and only the subscription owner can create a Cloud.

Step-by-step

Open the Cloud switcher, usually at the bottom-left of the sidebar, and select the option to create or add a new Cloud.
Enter a name. This is required and cannot be blank.
Invite teammates if you want to, picking a role for each. New members get Cloud Contributor unless you choose otherwise. You can also invite people later instead.
Confirm to create the Cloud.

Whoever creates the Cloud becomes its Cloud Owner.

The roles

When you invite someone, the role picker offers three roles.

Cloud Administrator — can see and change everything in the Cloud. Can also add members, set their role, and remove them. Cannot hand the Cloud to someone else.
Cloud Architect — can see and change everything in the Cloud, including how the Cloud is set up. Cannot add or remove members.
Cloud Contributor — the role new members get by default. Can create, edit and delete work in the Cloud, and upload files. Cannot manage members.

Every Cloud also has one Cloud Owner: the person who created it. An owner can do everything a Cloud Administrator can, and can hand the Cloud to someone else. You cannot pick Owner from this list. Ownership moves only when the current owner transfers it.

If creation is blocked

Three messages stop a Cloud from being created, and each has a different fix.

No active subscription. Creating an extra Cloud needs one. The Cloud your account started with stays yours either way, because it is the one Cloud that is never removed.
You are not the subscription owner. Only the subscription owner can create a Cloud. Ask them to create it for you. The subscription owner is whoever set up the account and manages its plan and billing.
Your plan's Cloud limit is reached. The subscription owner can either change plan or add an extra Cloud for $5/month under Settings → Plan and Billing (price as shown in the product on 2026-08-19). On an Enterprise plan managed by the Emerge.ai team, contact support instead.

An extra Cloud gives your team another place to work. It does not add AI capacity. Every Cloud on an account draws on the same shared weekly usage pool — see Plans, Tokens & Billing.

Rename a Cloud

A Cloud Owner or a Cloud Administrator can rename a Cloud at any time from Cloud Settings → General.

Definitions

Cloud Owner — the person a Cloud belongs to. This is whoever created it, until they hand it to someone else. There is one per Cloud.
Subscription owner — the person who manages the account's plan and billing. Creating extra Clouds and buying add-ons are theirs to do.
Cloud switcher — the control that lists your Clouds and moves you between them.
